Continued Professional Development from FireClass

FireClass is pleased to announce that we are officially recognised as an accredited Continued Professional Development provider.
 
At Tyco Fire Protection Products, we place great emphasis on educating and training industry professionals including fire consultants, engineers and facilities managers about the implications of industry codes and standards. We are developing a comprehensive programme of Continued Professional Development (CPD), where each session will focus on addressing particular issues or concerns within the industry.
 
The CPD sessions will involve a set of learning activities including web based tutorials, presentations, videos and informative discussions to help professionals develop their skills and understanding of the requirements of the industry.
 
Featuring our extensive range of fire detection panels and sophisticated fire detection technology, the FireClass CPD programme will involve sharing the intelligence and experience we have in the industry to deliver an informative line-up of technical seminars and learning days to educate our customers, distribution partners, and professionals in the industry.

Facilities and Property Management Guide to a Transparent Fire Alarm System
 
This CPD session will provide a detailed overview on industry standards EN54 and BS5839. It offers an explanation into the legal roles and responsibilities of facilities management personnel in the installation, maintenance and management of a fire detection system for public space applications. The session will also offer an understanding of risk assessment process and give an insight into best practice methods.

EN54 Part 23 Visual Alarm Devices
 
In December 2013 the EN54-23 standard became a mandatory requirement for all visual alarm devices. This session provides an in-depth understanding of requirements from the regulations and explores how the implementation of these requirements can impact the process for all fire detection professionals.

One Building One System
 
This CPD session will provide a detailed overview of the concept of the Internet of Things and how devices for the security and fire protection of a building can be linked together using a single front end platform which allows remote access to improve building management.
 
The session will enable learners to develop an understanding the advantages of integration of fire detection and alarm systems with CCTV, access control and HVAC systems using practical examples.
 
The session will provide guidance in standards BS 5839 and an overview of important considerations to take into account for facilities management and installation services when implementing access via IP for fire and security systems.

Open Vs Closed Protocol Controlled fire alarm system
 
This CPD session will provide a detailed overview of the flexibility of addressable systems design and the advantages of a protocol controlled system. Learners will developed a detailed understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of addressable and conventional systems
 
The session will give an in depth understanding of protocol and provide a focused understanding of EN54 Part 13 certification requirements effecting decisions between open and closed protocol systems.
 
The session will also cover installations guidelines effecting choices between an open and closed protocol managed system and give an overview of real world considerations to take into account when making the selection.

Improving Efficiency of Fire Alarm Systems in Healthcare Environments
 
This CPD will provide candidates with in depth understanding of the codes and standards fire alarm systems must adhere to and the importance of these standards.
 
Candidates will develop an understanding of Health Technical Memoranda, what they represent, their significance when designing a fire alarm system and the specifics of the codes themselves.
 
The session will provide an in depth understanding on how technology and software can help provide a solution to manage false alarms better and improve efficiency of fire alarm system.
